Our commitment

Brighton Forest School is committed to making our programme as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Our Forest School ethos; planning around the individual, prioritising development over output means we naturally try to meet each child where they are. We aim to act in accordance with our duties under the Equality Act 2010.

How we handle additional needs

We are a small team, and we take a personal, case-by-case approach to children with additional needs, disabilities, or medical conditions. We don't make blanket decisions about what is or isn't possible, instead, we have an honest conversation with you before your child joins the programme.

Because booking begins with an enquiry form rather than a direct checkout, there is always an opportunity to share relevant information before a place is confirmed. We will then discuss what support we can put in place, how sessions can be adapted where needed, and where the limits of what we can safely offer might lie. Our priority throughout is the safety and wellbeing of every child on site and the integrity of the session for the group as a whole.

We will always be straightforward with you about what we can and can't accommodate, and we won't confirm a place until we're confident we can provide it well.

Our outdoor site

Sessions take place on natural woodland terrain at Stanmer Park. The ground is uneven, often muddy, and includes slopes and tree roots, features that are intrinsic to the Forest School environment and can't be removed. We are upfront about this so that families can make an informed decision.

Our enquiry form, policies, and session information are written in plain English. If you need information in a different format, or would prefer to talk something through by phone or in person, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
